WEP Hacking - The Next Generation

WEP is an encryption scheme, based on the RC-4 cipher, that is available on all 802.11a, b and g wireless products. WEP uses a set of bits called a key to scramble information in the data frames as it leaves the access point or client adapter and the scrambled message is then decrypted by the receiver.

Both sides must have the same WEP key, which is usually a total of 64 or 128 bits long. A semi-random 24 bit number called an Initialization Vector (IV), is part of the key, so a 64 bit WEP key actually contains only 40 bits of "strong" encryption while a 128 bit key has 104. The IV is placed in encrypted frame's header, and is transmitted in plain text.

Traditionally, crac*ing WEP keys has been a slow and boring process. An attacker would have to capture hundreds of thousands or millions of packetsâ€"a process that could take hours or even days, depending on the volume of traffic passing over the wireless network. After enough packets were captured, a WEP crac*ing program such as Aircrac* would be used to find the WEP key.

Fast-forward to last summer, when the first of the latest generation of WEP cracking tools appeared. This current generation uses a combination of statistical techniques focused on unique IVs captured and brute-force dictionary attacks to break 128 bit WEP keys in minutes instead of hours. As Special Agent Bickers noted, "It doesn't matter if you use 128 bit WEP keys, you are vulnerable!"

1)Boot from cd
2)get the wep key
3)write it down
4)reboot into windows
5)connect using wep key.

this is joke or another fake program.Because this programs not hack any wireles modem.if you have capturing chipset in yout wireless adapter , you find passwords but only a program you give only error message =)

First of all, I didnt use this application myself yet so I cant say anything about that now. However, I can give a good advise for everyone here. Dont use the Windows to hacking somethin. Use the Linux to hacking somethin. I already have many programs for wireless hacking, they are completely open source of course. Just google it and see the results lol.

@ruafatih, you learning the Cisco and CEH todays. I believe that you'll learn somethin us in near future. You have a lot of potential, give me some..., just kidding lol.

I Believe this is to just crack wep keys, ive tried in Ubuntu and Fedora Core and it works , i actually cracked the wep key from the neigbours lol. as josephe said use this in linux, such as Fedora Core or Ubuntu

Well, I'm downloading from the first link. the second link is clearly 100 MB too little, but the rest are the right size (approximately 636 mb). I'll tell you if it works l8r. =D

Tutorial. =D
1) Download the file from the first link.
2) Here, I will write both PC and Mac instructions.
PC: Go here and download Alex Feinman's ISO Recorder for PC.

Insert a blank CD.
Right click the .iso and click "Copy to CD."
Select options, etc.
Move to step 3.

Mac: Open up Disk Utility. Search for it in Spotlight (top right).
The .iso should already be in the left side of Disk Utility. If it's not, drag it there. Then click it once then click "Burn." Don't mount it.
Select options, etc.
Move to step 3.

3) Go here and download a trial version of Parallels for your Operating System. You may have to create an account first. =D
I use Parallels because this version of Linux doesn't adapt well at all to my screen. SO USE PARALLELS!

4) Install with trial serial or get one from iSerialReader/KCNCrew/etc.

5) Create a new virtual machine with these options. (both Mac and PC)
Create a typical VM.
Guest OS Type: Linux
Guest OS Version: Other Linux
Virtual Machine name: Auditor
Configuration file: Leave as Default option

6) Insert the disk and start the Virtual Machine.

7) When you get the screen that says "Auditor Security Collection - boot menu", press F1 then type: vmlinuz bootusb screen=1024x768.

8) Wait for it to boot and you should see this screen:



However, after I got it to boot, I have no idea how to use the tools. Help please?
I notice the WEP cracking tool "Aircrack" and some others, but need instruction. Thanks for reading the tutorial.
