Default my nintendo DS got water on it and won't work

It's been about a year now that my DS was left in a little pudle of water. It was only a little bit of water so it only would have covered the side of the DS that holds the battery.
Anyway at first the orange light would come on on the corner when I tried turning it on but nothing else. A few hours later the DS wasn't working at all and hasn't worked for abotu a year now.
I got it back out yesterday tried charging it and nothing happened, but then I left it charging over night and the orange light came on again but it still wouldn't switch on. I've tried changing the battery to see if the problem was coming from a dead battery but no luck there, still didn't work.
Any suggestions? I've been reading around and it seems like most peoples DS's recovered after leaving them out to dry...

Then thats bad, your ds is as good as a doorstop go buy another? if you have the money, the ds isnt all that i have one but i dont like it compared to psp.

PSP + 8GB Stick + Crisis Core,GoW,PES2008,UEFAEuro08,Ghost Recon 2 > Beats a ds with a million games

yea I know the ds is pretty shit, a good toy for little kids though. I said it was mine just to make things easyer but its my girlfriends daughters, I'm not really that fussed about it, it's just worth seein if anything can be done cos it is a waste of money as it lasted about a month (plus all we went through just to get a damn pink one!).

Won't help you much for this problem, but keep this in mind for the next electronic device that gets wet or damp. Remove the battery immediately. Take the device, place it in a sock or pillow case. Pour a little dry rice in the bottom of a box or if the device is small enough, in a jar. Cover the device (in the sock or pillowcase) with the dry rice. Let sit for 24 hours, preferably placing it in an oven if you can set it to 200f or less for 2-3 hours. The rice is VERY anhydrous, meaning it will absorb every bit of moisture out of the device. I've used this trick dozens of times.
